This morning Tickets went on sale for the Inaugural RHS Chatsworth Flower Show Event which will be held from Wednesday 7 June 2017 – (RHS Members day) – until Saturday 1oth June 2017.
Sue Biggs, RHS Director General, said: “We’re thrilled that in 2017 we will be hosting an RHS Flower Show in partnership with Chatsworth on its breathtaking grounds. The amazing estate with its gorgeous surroundings has a rich gardening heritage and we’re honoured and excited to soon be a part of it. “RHS Chatsworth Flower Show will join our current portfolio of shows at Cardiff, Malvern, Chelsea, Hampton Court Palace, Tatton Park and London. It will be an incredible new show – a stunning addition to the flower show calendar, bursting with fresh ideas that will delight visitors. It’s a fabulous opportunity for exhibitors and a great platform to showcase and sell their amazing plants to a new audience.
There will be a reconstruction of Joseph Paxton’s Great Conservatory, and it will be the setting for wonderful floral displays and plant sales. there will be mini plant worlds with themes around specific habitats such as woodlands, Mediterranean areas and Tropical jungles.
There will be a wide range of Show Gardens, with designers pushing boundaries to create daring and visionary designs.
Opportunities to shop
The show will bring together a wide selection of the some of finest independent companies and specialist plant nurseries, which offer a wide-range of products and quality plants.
The show will be set in the impressive grounds of Chatsworth House, a Capability Brown parkland landscape.
Chatsworth House is in the Peak District, north of Derby, and south of Sheffield.
The RHS says “rather than the grid system used at other RHS events, the show will be laid out to reflect the natural curves of the landscape, maximising the estate’s far-reaching vistas and beautiful house.
Show-goers will be able to move between the different sides of the show ground using specially designed bridges across the River Derwent which will become key features of the show content. One bridge will be created in the Palladian style and while it will have a traditional look from the outside, the inside will be decorated with an unexpected floral installation.”
A recreation of the Great The Great Conservatory
At most RHS shows a large marquee is used to house the nurseries and plant specialists and their floral displays. At Chatsworth, the Floral Marquee will be a recreation of Joseph Paxton’s Great Conservatory (originally built at Chatsworth in 1840 and demolished in 1920). It will be visible from all parts of the show ground.
Once Inside, visitors can explore mini plant worlds, while having the opportunity to shop for the UK’s best plants from our award-winning nurseries.
